Hotels in Downtown Las Vegas

If you’ve been to hotels on the Las Vegas strip before, and you liked them but are looking for a little change this time around, consider staying at a hotel in downtown Las Vegas. Downtown Las Vegas is an area steeped in Las Vegas history, and a stay at one of the classic hotels in this area is an experience not to be missed.

The Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget is the largest casino hotel downtown, with over 1900 rooms, so there’s a great chance of finding occupancy when you visit. In addition, this hotel is no dive: It has had a four diamond rating according to AAA for over 30 years. The Golden Nugget is one of the oldest Las Vegas casinos that is still standing. It was built in 1946 and has since then been a casino US landmark. The Golden Nugget is the casino that gave billionaire casino mogul and Las Vegas legend Steve Wynn his start when he became the majority shareholder in 1973.

In recent years, the Golden Nugget has undergone millions of dollars of renovations to bring it into the 21st century. However, it still retains its feature attraction, the world’s largest gold nugget on display, known as the Hand of Faith, which can be observed in the hotel lobby.

The Four Queens

The Four Queens is another classic old downtown Las Vegas hotel and casino. Its feature attraction is the Queen’s Machine, which is the world’s largest slot machine. Nevertheless, you’ll also find some of the most modern games and the casino hosts some of the best Las Vegas slots tournaments around.

The Four Queens has been a mainstay of downtown Las Vegas for over four decades, having been built in 1964. It was built by Ben Goffstein, who named the casino after Benita, Hope, Faith and Michele Goffstein, his four daughters.

Today, the casino is owned by TLC Enterprises. The casino was one of the creators of the Fremont Street Experience, an outdoor laser light show that extends for most of Freemont Street. The casino has undergone numerous expansions throughout the years, and is now 40,000 square feet with 690 rooms, in contrast to its original size of 20,000 square feet and only 120 rooms.

Before choosing where in Vegas you want to stay, look online for an exclusive casino offer online. There might be promotions running right now – besides complimentary, which are standard when playing the casino games.
